Hello!

With only days remaining until we open our stages the EMF team is frantically laying cables, testing lasers, and hanging bunting in preparation for your arrival.

This is probably the last time you’ll hear from us before we open - but there’s a few more things to tell you about.

So many volunteers

After an overwhelming response to volunteer sign-up most slots are already full, but don’t worry, we expect to open up more during the festival!

If you’re interested please register to volunteer, and keep an eye on the available shifts.

Give a tiny talk

For people who would like to give a short talk about anything at all, we have five minute lightning talk slots on Friday and Saturday.

Lightning talk sign-up is now available. Don’t hesitate, there are a limited number of slots and sign-up is first-come-first-served.

Bring out your junk!

Another reminder that the infamous EMF Swap Shop will be running throughout the weekend - bring odd things you don’t want, and take weird things you do in return for a donation to charity.

Anything goes no matter how unusual - as long as it’s not dangerous! But please remember that if nobody takes your donations it’s your responsibility to take them home again at the end of the weekend.

You’ll find the Swap Shop near the food vendors, near the EMF Shop.

Trash Compactor

Deep in NullSector, Trash Compactor is a space for electronic music experimentation - bleeps, bloops, and occasionally sounds characterized by a succession of repetitive beats.

We’ll be running workshops and sessions on everything from algorave to modular synths, and you’re welcome to bring instruments and devices along to play with others - or play a gig! We will also be hosting an Electronic Music Open Mic where anyone can sign up to play a short performance.

The schedule will soon have details of the sessions and workshops over the weekend, or head to Trash Compactor and check the blackboard for whatever is coming up that day.

If you’d like to contribute to Trash Compactor, get in touch.

Our Code of Conduct

We expect all attendees to read and comply with our code of conduct.

If you have concerns during the festival please get in touch with our conduct team. You can contact them via EMF phone (1234 / COND), via email on conduct@emfcamp.org, online via report.emf.camp, or any EMF volunteer can contact them for you.

It’s often easier to handle things during the festival so reach out sooner rather than later - we’d rather have a chat than not know about something that might become an issue.

Reporting live from Eastnor

It has been very hot during the day and cold at night, however we cannot guarantee this will continue because the device left in the Swap Shop labelled “weather control” doesn’t work.

Please come prepared for all kinds of weather and do not assume the weather forecast is correct. As ever - wear sunscreen.

You may also want to peruse our what to bring list.

No open fires (but we have flamethrowers)

Due to the dry grass and continuing hot weather we will sadly not be allowing fires in campsites this year. We may still have public fire pits for you to gather round.

All barbecues must be purpose-built and raised at least 30cm off the ground. Please keep a bucket of water nearby. Disposable barbecues are not permitted at EMF.

Did you win the lottery?

We have drawn the workshop lottery! If you’ve won tickets check the listing carefully to make sure you bring any equipment needed, and make sure you’re aware of how much the workshop will cost.

Please arrive before the start of the workshop - if you aren’t present when it starts, we may give your space to someone else.

If you weren’t lucky enough to get a workshop place you won’t have received an email, but don’t forget that 50% of all workshop places are first-come-first-served on the door. Head to the tent no more than 15 minutes before the time to try and grab a spot, the workshop steward will tell you how many spaces are still available.

FieldFX need you

Our resident demoscene collective will be running competitions for computer graphics demos throughout the weekend, with a special category for mind-blowing visuals shown in our on-site planetarium.

The prizegiving ceremony showing all the best demos submitted over the weekend is on Sunday at 8pm.

If you’re interested in taking part, all the information you need is at field-fx.party.
